About ReVision Editing
I'm Tanis Nessler, editor and owner of ReVision Editing, which offers a range of editing services for authors of literary fiction, most genre fiction, and memoir. To "ReVision" writing is to see it with fresh insight. I work in disappearing ink, improving a manuscript's clarity and flow without sacrificing the author's desired vision or unique voice. I'm committed to providing a respectful, collaborative editing experience, and I consider it a privilege to be entrusted with polishing an author's work.
I attained my BA in Honours English from the University of Alberta in 1994 and began my professional editing career immediately by copyediting books for a literary agent. I continued to gain my experience both in-house and freelance while editing fiction, narrative nonfiction, magazine articles, newsletters, government reports, and academic papers in a variety of disciplines. Happiest when editing fiction, I decided to specialize and opened the doors to ReVision Editing in 2013. I'm committed to continual professional development, taking editing and fiction craft courses regularly and reading related books and blogs daily in an effort to hone my fiction editing skills. I'm a member of the Editors Association of Canada and the Calgary Association of Freelance Editors.
Because I prefer not to hire employees or subcontract my work, you can be assured that I will be the editor working on your project. If you require an editorial service I do not provide, I'm happy to refer you to colleagues with those skills. All work is done electronically using Microsoft Word's editing functions, which allow you to maintain full control over all editorial changes.
